Coaching (and Mentoring) Agreement – Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions set out the expectations and minimum terms expected of both parties. They are designed to help you to gain the most out of the coaching and/or mentoring relationship. If you sign up for coaching (and/or mentoring) with me, you will be sent a more extensive Agreement to read and sign.

1. What is coaching?

Coaching is a partnership between the Coach and the Client in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize personal and professional potential.  It is designed to facilitate the creation and/or development of personal, professional or business goals and to develop and carry out a strategy or plan for achieving those goals.

2.Responsibility

The Client is solely responsible for creating and implementing their own physical, mental and emotional well-being, decisions, choices, actions and results arising out of or resulting from the coaching relationship and their coaching calls and interactions with the Coach. The Coach partners with the Client on this journey and will do everything possible in line with their processes to enable you to achieve results and desired outcomes. However the Client agrees that the Coach is not and will not be liable or responsible for any actions or inaction, or for any direct or indirect result of any services provided by the Coach. The Client understands coaching is not therapy and does not substitute for therapy if needed, and does not prevent, cure, or treat any mental disorder or medical disease.

3. Confidentiality

The Coach will not divulge what is shared in the coaching relationship without consent. You are free to discuss the coaching relationship with anyone at any time.

4. Coaching sessions

Unless otherwise mutually agreed, coaching sessions will take place online via Zoom and each session is 60 minutes.

5. Scheduling

Coaching sessions are scheduled in advance by direct agreement between you and your Coach. If you cannot attend a scheduled session you are fully responsible for informing the Coach and rescheduling your session at least 48 hours in advance, otherwise the session will be deemed forfeit. You are responsible for rescheduling via email contact.

6. Payment for sessions

Full payment for each session must be made upfront and received before each coaching session.

7. Termination

Either the Client or the Coach may terminate this Agreement at any time with 1 weeks’ written notice. The Client agrees to compensate the Coach for all coaching services rendered through and including the effective date of termination of the coaching relationship.

8. Limited liability

Except as expressly provided in the Coaching Agreement, the Coach makes no guarantees, representations or warranties of any kind or nature, express or implied with respect to the coaching services negotiated, agreed upon and rendered. In no event shall the Coach be liable to the Client for any indirect, consequential or special damages. Notwithstanding any damages that the Client may incur, the Coach’s entire liability under this Agreement, and the Client’s exclusive remedy, shall be limited to the amount actually paid by the Client to the Coach under this Agreement for all coaching services rendered through and including the termination date.

9. PhD Students Engaging in Coaching Services

PhD students engaging in Coaching and/or Mentoring must have informed their supervisors and institution of study of the service that they have entered into. They agree to be fully transparent with supervisors about their activities and their progress. They must also confirm that they have secured permission from their supervisors and institution of study to engage in these services, and that doing so is permitted as part of their PhD programme. They recognize that any advice or guidance provided by the Coach is advice only, and that it is the full responsibility of them as Client as to how/if/to what extent  they implement/use this in their PhD. The Coach takes no responsibility for the outcome of doing so, the success of the PhD,  and/or the effect of this on relationships with supervisors and institution of study. I do not read or provide feedback on drafts of PhD theses or chapters.
